KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Millioner, maintaining a secure and trustworthy gaming environment is paramount. We are legally obligated to verify the identity of our players. This process, known as Know Your Customer (KYC), is a fundamental requirement imposed by our licensing authority and international anti-money laundering (AML) regulations. Identity verification protects both you and Millioner by preventing fraud, underage gambling, and financial crime. It ensures that funds are legitimate and that our platform is used responsibly.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, refers to the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the identity of clients. For Millioner, this means collecting and confirming specific personal information from our players. This is not merely a formality, it is a critical component of our regulatory compliance framework. It allows us to understand who our customers are, assess potential risks, and uphold the integrity of our services. The information gathered is handled with the utmost confidentiality and in strict accordance with data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When Verification Is Required

Verification is an ongoing process that may be triggered at several stages during your interaction with Millioner:

  • Upon Registration: Basic identity checks are performed when you first create an account.
  • Before Your First Withdrawal: To comply with AML regulations and ensure funds are returned to the rightful owner, full verification is typically required before your initial withdrawal request can be processed.
  • When Reaching Certain Thresholds: Our licensing authority mandates further verification once your deposits, withdrawals, or wagering activity reach specific monetary thresholds.
  • Changes to Account Details: If you update significant personal information, such as your name or address, reverification may be necessary.
  • Suspicious Activity: Any activity deemed unusual or potentially fraudulent will trigger an immediate verification request to protect your account and Millioner.
  • Periodic Reviews: We conduct periodic reviews of customer accounts to ensure that the information we hold remains accurate and up-to-date.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete the verification process, Millioner may request various documents. These documents are categorised to confirm different aspects of your identity and financial standing. It is important that all submitted documents are clear, legible, and current. We may ask for:

  • Proof of Identity
  • Proof of Address
  • Proof of Payment Method Ownership
  • Source of Funds documentation

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity, we require a clear, colour copy of one of the following government-issued identification documents:

  • Passport: The photo page, ensuring the machine-readable zone is visible.
  • National ID Card: Both the front and back of the card.
  • Driving Licence: Both the front and back of the licence.

The document must be valid, not expired, and clearly show your full name, date of birth, photograph, and signature. The entire document must be visible in the image provided.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we require a document issued within the last three months that clearly displays your full name and current residential address. Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility bill (e.g., electricity, gas, water, internet, landline phone bill)
  • Bank statement or credit card statement
  • Government-issued tax statement
  • Council tax bill

Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted as proof of address. The document must be dated and show the name matching your Millioner account.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the security of your transactions and prevent unauthorised use, we require verification of the payment methods used on your Millioner account. The specific documents needed will depend on the payment method:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: A copy of the front of the card showing the first six and last four digits of the card number, your name, and the expiry date. The middle digits and the CVV/CVC code on the back should be obscured for security.
  • E-wallets (e.g., Neteller, Skrill): A screenshot of your e-wallet account page clearly showing your name, email address, and the account ID.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a bank statement showing your name, bank logo, account number, and recent transactions to or from Millioner.

All details must match the name registered on your Millioner account.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly when transactions involve significant sums, Millioner is legally obliged to request information and documentation regarding your Source of Funds (SoF) or Source of Wealth (SoW). This is a crucial aspect of our AML compliance. This process, known as Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), helps us understand the origin of the funds used for gambling. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Payslips or employment contracts
  • Bank statements showing accumulated savings
  • Proof of inheritance or property sale
  • Company accounts or dividend statements

We understand that this can be a sensitive request, but it is a regulatory necessity. All information provided for SoF/SoW will be treated with the strictest confidence and used solely for compliance purposes.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents through our secure portal, our dedicated verification team will review them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Typically, initial verification is completed within 24-48 hours, though this can vary depending on the volume of requests and the clarity of the documents provided. If further information or clearer copies are needed, we will contact you via email. Please ensure your contact details on Millioner are up-to-date.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Millioner employs robust security measures to protect your personal and financial information. All documents submitted for verification are encrypted and stored securely in compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations. Access to these documents is restricted to authorised personnel only, who are trained in data handling and privacy protocols. We do not share your documents with third parties unless legally required to do so by our licensing authority or law enforcement.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

Millioner is committed to combating money laundering and terrorist financing. Our KYC and verification procedures are integral to our comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework. By verifying the identity of our players and monitoring transaction patterns, we aim to detect and prevent illicit financial activities on our platform. We report any suspicious transactions to the relevant authorities, as mandated by law. This commitment protects the financial system and maintains a safe environment for all our legitimate players.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

Strict age verification is a core component of our responsible gaming policy. It is illegal for anyone under the legal gambling age (which is 18 years in most jurisdictions) to open an account or gamble at Millioner. Our verification process rigorously checks the date of birth provided during registration against official identification documents. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately closed, and any associated funds or winnings will be forfeited. We are dedicated to preventing underage gambling and promoting a safe environment for adult players only.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

While we strive for prompt verification, delays can occur if documents are unclear, incomplete, or if additional information is required. If your verification is delayed, we will notify you and explain the reason. If verification is ultimately unsuccessful, it may lead to limitations on your account, including the inability to deposit, withdraw, or play. In rare cases, if we are unable to verify your identity to our satisfaction or if there are discrepancies, your account may be suspended or closed. We will always communicate the reasons for such actions.
